Size & Compatibility Guide

Getting the fit right the first time means fewer returns and a happier pet. This guide covers how to measure, how to read our size charts, and what to check before buying our smart devices.

What you'll need

A soft tailor's tape measure. No tape? Use a length of string or ribbon, mark it with your finger, then hold it against a ruler.

Measure your pet standing up, not lying down, and keep the tape snug but not tight — you should be able to slide two fingers underneath comfortably.

How to measure

Neck (for collars)

Wrap the tape around the base of the neck, where a collar naturally sits — slightly lower than where the head meets the neck. Add two fingers' width for comfort.

Chest / girth (for harnesses and apparel)

Measure around the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs. This is the most important measurement for harnesses — if you only take one, take this.

Back length (for coats and vests)

Measure along the spine from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail. Do not include the tail itself.

Weight

Some products — beds, carriers, treat dummies — are sized by weight rather than measurement. Weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding your pet, and subtract.

Between two sizes?

Size up. This is true for almost everything we sell. A slightly roomy harness can be tightened; one that's too small can't be let out. The exceptions are beds and carriers, where a snug fit is often what makes a pet feel secure — for those, follow the weight guidance on the product page.

If your pet is still growing, size up and use the adjustment straps.

Beds & carriers

Measure your pet curled up in their favourite sleeping position, from nose to tail base, then add 15–20cm (6–8in). Cats and dogs that sleep stretched out need a longer bed than the curl measurement suggests — if your pet does both, size to the stretch.

For carriers, check your airline's cabin dimensions before ordering if you plan to fly. Requirements vary considerably between carriers.

Smart device compatibility

Phone and app

Our GPS trackers, smart feeders, water fountains and monitoring cameras work with both iOS and Android through a free companion app. The specific app and its minimum OS version are listed on each product page.

Wi-Fi requirements

Smart feeders and cameras connect over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Most home routers broadcast both 2.4GHz and 5GHz — if setup fails, check that your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz band during pairing.

GPS trackers and collars

Check the tracker's weight against your pet's size — a unit suited to a large dog may be too heavy for a cat or small breed. Trackers attach to a collar you already own unless the product page states otherwise, and any subscription requirement is noted there too.

Power

Automatic feeders and fountains need a nearby power outlet. Check cable length on the product page and plan where the unit will sit before ordering.
